Lacey 15 Month Update

Lacey, Lacey, Lacey. Where do I start? I love this little girl so much. She's growing too fast and is just so cute. But onto the updates:

*Lacey is 15 months and is getting older but is not getting bigger. If anything she's thinning out because she's walking and running around. Her almost 15 month stats are:
2/15/12: Weight: 26.3 lbs (91%), Height: 32.5 inches (97%)

*She is still in size 4 huggies and 18 month clothes. She has been in these same sizes since she was 5 months old. The pants are now her length and the shirts fit better. I kinda miss the rolls :( but she has a few left on her legs.

*Lacey is no longer using a bottle. She's been off the morning bottle for awhile, but had still been enjoying her night bottle. When she was sick a few weeks ago we didn't give her milk (she didn't want any either) and we just never gave her another bottle. She's pretty good with transitions, except I'm nervous for when we take the binky away.

*She is talking up a storm lately. Some of it is randomness, but she does know the word for binky (dink), juice (juuuuce), cracker (craca), cookie..I know right (Coooooki), outside (ow-ide), moma, daddy, blanket (danky), book (dook), and my favorite Jesus (cheezus). She says the sounds of a dog, cow, horse, duck, cat, and can mimick a fish face. She recognizes where things are and goes up and points to what she wants. I like this communication. I know exactly what she wants.

*Nap time and Night time is AWESOME...knock on wood nothing changes. Saturday at nap and night time she pointed to her dinky, got her danky, and wanted to be picked up to be put in bed. I was like...really? Love it. She goes to bed around 8:00-8:30 and sleeps all night and wakes up at 7:00-7:30. She takes a nap from 12:30-3:00. I love that we now have a set schedule. I used to think moms were crazy to always had a dedicated nap time and that they couldn't do anything during it was dumb. Well, that's how it works. If I want her to be happy in the morning, afternoon, and night she needs her sleep. She's like her dad in the way that she goes to bed when she's tired. I'm so glad she didn't get my habit of fighting off the fact that I'm tired.

* Lacey absolutely loves Mickey Mouse club and Tangled. She knows the Mickey Mouse club characters and especially likes Donald and Daisy duck (then she'd say quak quak). She loves the music in Tangled and the horses (Maximus) is her favorite. She gets all giddy and shakes her arms when he comes on.

*She loves to read. Atleast and hour a day is dedicated to going through books, reading and pointing out animals/insects/etc. Today I was watching her read on her chair and she was rocking back and forth. I looked at the book and it was the 'I Love You Forever' book where the mom rocks her son back and forth. This little girl is a smart cookie.

*She has recently discover just how much she loves to color. True she mostly likes taking the crayons out of the bag and putting them back in but last week she started recognizing that she is actually drawing. Then yesterday, Kyle found the beautiful drawing she left in pen on both couches. Yay for micro-sued. May not be beautiful but it's childproof :)

*Lacey used to eat anything and everything. Now she's becoming more picky. She loves breakfast and usually eats 1/2 a banana, then a cup of yogurt, and cheerios or whatever cereal. Her snack consist of raisins, multi-grain crackers, and juuuuce. Lunch is a peanut butter and honey suitcase sandwhich with apple slices. Then a snack. Dinner is usually a fight unless we have Mac N Cheese or Spaghetti. I try to introduce everything we eat and she usually spits it out or won't touch it at all. She rarely eats vegetables and I've actually started buying the puree vegetables again just to get some in her food. I hope if I keep introducing things that she will begin to like more things. We shall see.

I love being able to stay at home and watch her grow up every second. She is such a good, chill little girl. We are so blessed to have her in our family.

These are a few of my favorite things

TARGET & STARBUCKS...I'm such a mom I know. I would have Diet Coke in the picture if I wasn't trying to get off that addiction. It's like my liquid crack.

Frigid Five

Kyle ran in a race called the Frigid Five this weekend. I wouldn't have ran just because the name, oh and because I more than dislike running. Anyways, Kyle was training for a half marathon this past summer but couldn't run due to a knee injury. He's started running again with Joe and he's back to running without knee pain (and with health insurance :) ). What's funny is we have all been laughing at how warm it was going to be because we have had a pretty calm winter. When I say pretty calm, I mean some 60 and 70 degree days in January. Well, it started getting cold on Thursday and by Saturday it was FREEZING. They ran in 19 degree weather. Celeste and I brought the girls to cheer the guys on in the last 1/2 mile and it was a bad idea. Liz was fine but Lacey hated blankets, gloves, hats, and the stroller. So, I was trying to keep her warm all the while my hands were frozen (I still can't find my amazing warm leather gloves since the move...I hate moving and losing things). Then I started getting comments from people, "Yeah she's probably really cold" and "It's freezing out here, she probably wants to be warm". Seriously? Do people think I'm trying to win bad mom of the year and try to not keep her warm. Well, I just gave up and went to the car. That's after we cheered Joe on and we totally missed Kyle who was a few feet in front of him (I had no idea he was wearing a blue sweater and not a red running shirt) Anyways, the guys finished, they were happy with their time and look forward to their next race. Hopefully this time it won't be so freakin cold....

Thunder Game

Last Friday we went to the Thunder Game. It was the Oklahoma Thunder vs. Memphis Grizzlies. It was Celeste and Joe's first NBA game and Kyle and I hadn't been for awhile. The game, people, arena, and everything was all so exciting. The Thunder was down most of the game but fought hard the last quarter and won! We had a blast! We definitely will be back. A big thanks to Chesapeake for the awesome tickets, and for Becca who is the best babysitter ever.

No More Fine Hair

Okay, well that's not true. I was born with fine hair but a lot of it. I've heard by everyone that it's not good for your hair to wash it daily. I didn't want to believe it but I do think my hair would be much healthier if I didn't wash it every day. The girl that did my hair in St George went a whole week without washing her hair....but it looked gorgeous everytime I saw her. She really is the one that convinced me that maybe I should try something different. So I started with baby powder on the roots just to see what it did. It gets me by but sometimes it whitish and is not cute. I need to try dry shampoo but have heard baby powder does the same thing. I do love how much more course my hair is the second day and that may be because I have tons of product. But the whole reason for this post is I wanted to get opinions on what YOU do for your hair on the 2nd day to not have the crazy oily root problem?

Oklahoma Science Museum

I'm trying to plan activities on the weekends so we can have fun family time and so Kyle can see how fun Oklahoma is. So, last Saturday we went to the Oklahoma Science Museum with the Tribetts. It is a museum filled with toys/activities for all ages (mostly kids). Lacey loved it and Kyle and Joe I think had as much fun as Lacey and Liz did. We liked it so much that we bought a pass for a year. After we enjoyed some Subway. (I haven't been there for almost a year due to the smell. Is anyone turned off by the smell as much as I am? Smells like bread + dirty.) Anyways, we had a blast. It's been so fun to have Celeste and her family so close and that we do pretty much everything together.

Merry Christmas to Us!!

Today is a big day for us. Kyle is now past his 90 days of working at Chesapeake and we now have Health Insurance. Lacey and Kyle had a short term insurance plan for the past 90 days but it was really for emergencies. After calling many insurance companies and eventually the state health department, I was denied health insurance due to my pre-existing condition and because it was so recent. It doesn't make sense and it really has been an eye opening experience because there needs to be a change to health care system so people in my situation are able to get coverage. Obamacare is not the answer, Romneycare... maybe. Now I have many appointments to make for all of us. Unfortunately, with this happy news there is some not so happy. Our new insurance company will not cover anything stroke related for a year. Here's for that to not happen in the next year or....or EVER. Thanks.
